C.V. Advice
Your
Curriculum Vitae is the first impression
that a potential employer gets of you;
it is therefore vital that you ensure
you spent an appropriate amount of time
and energy getting it 100% right.
It
is also important that you tailor your
CV to the industry, company and role
that you are interested in. This can be
discussed in detail with your
consultant; as part of our service they
will spend time to meet with you to go
through all of your relevant, and
sometimes not so relevant, experience,
to discover the best way to relate this
information to your next employer via
your CV.

|
|
What to include in
your C.V. |
 |
Personal details: Full name,
address, telephone numbers and
e-mail address.
|
 |
Date of Birth. |
 |
Nationality and if required,
visa status. |
 |
Any languages that you speak. |
 |
Education and Professional
Qualifications |
 |
List the name of the
institutions, with appropriate
dates and details of grades
achieved in each subject;
For
GCSE and O levels it is usually
enough to state the number
achieved along with your English
and Maths grades |
 |
Career history: Provide dates,
company names (a brief
description of the type of
business is helpful if it is
unclear) and job title for each
position held. Include details
of your day-to-day
responsibilities, plus any
project work and in particular
any special achievements. You
should also include any extra
curricular activities as
potential employers these days
are looking for any additional
ways that you can add value to
their organisation |
 |
Computer skills. |
 |
Interests/hobbies:
You dont need to go into too
much detail here but a good
indication of your all round
interests, is essential. |
You
should ensure there are no unexplained
gaps in the dates on your CV, explaining any gap between jobs is far
better than leaving them blank as the
interviewer will ask.
You
should ALWAYS ensure you spell check
your CV as even one spelling error is
guaranteed to put potential employers
off.
It
is important to make sure the relevant
information is easy to find. A
prospective employer should not have to
flick through pages of a CV to find out
what they want to know.
